1. Claiming Your Invitation
- Follow the link in the invitation email you received and create your account on Golden.
- Check your spam folder in case the email routed there.
- Reach out to carina@goldenvolunteer.com or support@goldenvolunteer.com if you have not received an invite email.
2. Inviting Additional Team Members
If you have additional team members that will be helping you create and manage volunteers and opportunities, you'll want to also give them access to your Dashboard account.
- Log into your Dashboard and go to Settings > Users and click "Invite Users" (orange button in top right).
- Input their email address and the level of access you would like to give them (this can be changed at any time, you can read more about the different permission levels here), and then select "Send Invitation".
- They will be sent an email invitation with a link they can follow to finish creating their login.
- You can see all pending invitations at the bottom of the screen, resend invitations using the circular arrow icon on the right, or cancel an invitation using the trash can icon.

Get started creating Opportunities for your volunteers by selecting the orange 'Create Opportunity' button as seen in the top right corner.
Be sure when creating opportunities to use the Suggested Tags during Step 2. This will allow volunteers to easily find your opportunities using the portal filters.
Please note that before opportunities are shared publicly, they are screened in order to ensure that the event is appropriate and the details are understandable to our volunteers.
When a new event is created, its status shows as "Submitted," meaning it's waiting to be screened. Opportunities with a "Submitted" status can still be shared with volunteers using share links (details below), and allow volunteer sign-ups.
All opportunities are screened within one business day. Once they have been approved, their status is set to "Active." If there are issues with the listing, a member of the editorial team will email the opportunity creator immediately. If an opportunity needs to be approved sooner please email support@goldenvolunteer.com.
Keep in mind: If your opportunity runs out of time slots, even though the status may be "active," this opportunity will not show up to our volunteers. Only live events with upcoming time slots are able to be seen on Golden, so make sure you create new time slots before they run out!

4. Onboarding Volunteers
The best way to engage volunteers is by being proactive, reaching out, and sharing your opportunities with them. You can share links that can be easily posted on social media, emails, or sent directly to volunteers, and more!
To direct volunteers to all of your public/open opportunities with one link, go to Dashboard > Settings > Web Tools and press copy next to the link underneath where it says "Shows all Open Opportunities created BY you."
That link will bring volunteers to a Save Furry Friends branded volunteer portal page, where volunteers can browse all of your organization's available public opportunities and sign up.
Note: it will NOT include opportunities for Private Groups (you'll need to send them a direct link, explained below).
If you're looking to direct volunteers to a specific open or private opportunity you'll use the share button as pictured below:
This icon will appear next to your Opportunities and generate a share link to that specific opportunity:
Copy and paste this link anywhere you already communicate with your volunteers - email, text, social media - to quickly get the word out! (Send it to the point of contact for the private group, or in an email to your core volunteers).

6. Devices, Systems, and Browsers
We do the best we can to make sure organizers and volunteers can use Golden on any device - making regular updates to support all of the browsers and systems that the software providers continue to support.
That said, older and out of date devices (including phones and tablets that cannot handle new software updates), operating systems, and browsers that are no longer updated by their provider, may not be able to support Golden.
We always recommend that users keep their devices up to date with the latest software and app updates, or use the current version of one of these suggested browsers:
- Google Chrome
- Safari
- Firefox
- Edge
If you are currently an Internet Explorer user, we highly recommend upgrading to Microsoft Edge for an improved experience in Golden. Please note that Microsoft no longer supports Internet Explorer, so you may experience difficulties with Golden’s volunteer and organizer tools with that browser.
